Taoist Tai Chi® practice for people of all ages
Celebrating the International Day of the Senior on Wednesday, November 7, 2018
Vhereas, the decline in health usually associated with aging is not inevitable.
With diligent practice the Taoist Tai Chi' arts of health is known to improve
balance, prevent falls, contribute to better posture, increase strength and flexibility
and improve circulation, calmness, clarity and peace of mind, thereby providing an
opportunity for Healthy Aging; and
Vhereas, the Taoist Tai Chi Society has been helping people improve their
physical, mental and spiritual well -being for over 48 years in 26 countries with
over 40,000 participants worldwide, including more than 2,000 participants in the
State of Florida attending classes in 30 locations offered by 170 trained volunteer
instructors; and
Vhereas, the Taoist Tai Chi Society of the United States of America was
incorporated in Tallahassee, Florida in 1985, and is a volunteer - based, charitable
non - profit 501(c)3 organization; and
Vhereas, the Florida Keys Branch of the Taoist Tai Chi Society will join in the
world -wide celebration through outreach and activities recognizing the vital
contributions of seniors in the Florida Keys; and
Vhereas, it is fitting for Monroe County, with its population of seniors, its
appreciation for all cultures moving together in harmony, and its commitment to
improving wellness of its workforce, to recognize the Taoist Tai Chi Society of the
United States of America,
NOW THEREFORE, I David Rice, by virtue of the authority vested in me as
Mayor of Monroe County, Florida, do hereby proclaim Wednesday, November 7,
2018 as
TAOIST TAI CHI FUNG LOY KOK INTERNATIONAL DAY OF THE SENIOR
