AGENDA ITEM WORDING: Approval to waive all fees currently charged to use the theater at the
Murray E. Nelson Government and Cultural Center for up to one year.
ITEM BACKGROUND: During calendar year 2010, the County collected $9,636 in user fees to
offset employee and utility costs associated with use of the theater at the Nelson Government Center.
As a test, staff would like to waive all user fees at this facility for up to one year to determine if it will
encourage additional use of the facility. Staff will report back to the Board if any increased use starts
to negatively affect operations or budgets.
PREVIOUS RELEVANT BOCC ACTION: At least once a year, the BOCC approves annual
modifications to the fee structure for use of County meeting rooms and Channel 76 televising costs.
The most recent fee schedule as approved on August 18, 2010, is attached.

AGENDA ITEM WORDING: Approval of annual modifications to fee structure for the use of
County meeting rooms and Channel 76 televising costs for FYI (effective 10/1/2010).
ITEM BACKGROUND: Meeting room rates have been modified annually for each coming fiscal
year. This year there is a 2.7% CPI -U increase in costs as well as an adjustment for TV technician to
bring technician charges in line with the current pay grade structure.
PREVIOUS RELEVANT BOCC ACTION: Each year the BOCC approves an annual modification
to the fee structure.
CONTRACT/AGREEMENT CHANGES: Increase facilities costs from $9.20 to $9.45; equipment
costs from $135.46 to $139.12; regular rate for maintenance technician from $34.99 to $35.41 (overtime
rate from $52.48 to $53.12), and regular rate for the TV Technician from $22.57 to $28.35 (overtime
rate from $33.85 to $42.53).
