BIDDING SPECIFICS
Due to the fluctuations in the grass-growing season, the amount of time involved
in mowing around the taxiway and runway will vary with the seasons. The resulting
landscaping effort could vary from a low of approximately 40 man hours per week in the
dry season, to a high of 80-90 man hour-s during the rainy or growing season. For this
reason, it is desired that bids be made ill terms of cost per man-hour. Additionally, the
airport presently owns equipment necessary to accomplish most of the landscaping tasks
(tractor with mower, two lawn mowers, and two gas powered string trimmers). All bids
should specify whether the contractor is basing the bid on using his/her own equipment or
on using the airport equipment.

AGENDA ITEM WORDING: Approval to advertise a request for bids to provide landscape maintenance at the Key West

ITEM BACKGROUND: Landscape maintenance for the Airport has been performed by inmates from the County Detention
Center. The jail has not been able to supply us with any prisoners for more than 5 months, and they do not believe they
will be able to do so in the foreseeable future. The Coordinator of the Landscape Maintenance program has agreed to a
voluntary lay-off so that we will have funds to contract with a private firm to do the work.
