AGENDA ITEM WORDING:
Appointment of a representative to the South Florida Resource Conservation and Development
Council.
ITEM BACKGROUND:
Monroe County joined the South Florida Resource Conservation and Development Council and
appointed three of the nine members to its Board. The Council has been instrumental in completing
the canal cleaning program in the Keys. Mr. Crispin has stepped down from his position as a Board
member to provide other services to the organization. It is necessary to appoint a replacement. Ms.
Sharon Macut, the Executive Director of the Upper Keys Chamber of Commerce has indicated interest.

SUBJECT: Appointment to South Florida Resource Conservation and Development Council
(SFRC&D)

The County had previously jointed the SFRC&D and three members of the community
were appointed to serve on the Board. In addition, there were three members each from both
Dade and Broward counties.
Mr. Malloch, David Rice and Bill Crispin, an Upper Keys Attorney, have been the
members to date. Mr. Crispin is stepping down from the Board so that he can provide other
services to the organization.
It therefore, becomes necessary for the County to appoint a third representative. We shall
place this on the agenda as an add-on for the meeting of February 16. One name that has been
suggested is Sharon Macut, the Executive Director of the Upper Keys Chamber of Commerce.
