ITEM BACKGROUND:
Emily Schemper, AICP, CFM is being recommended as Sr. Director of Planning and Environmental
Resources effective 1/24/19. She has the credentials and experience to fill the position and has been
the interim director for months.
Florida law 125.74(1)(k), requires that the Board of County Commissioners confirm all department
heads.
PREVIOUS RELEVANT BOCC ACTION:
Planning and Environmental Resources Director Mayte Santamaria resigned effective 2/21/18.
Assistant County Administrator Christine Hurley was appointed Acting Sr. Director of Planning and
Environmental Resources on 2/21/18 by the Board, effective 2/22/18.
