CURRENT STATUS REPORT FOR CUDJOE REGIONAL WASTEWATER PROGRAM
(As of May 15,2015)
1. Inner Islands' Collection Substantial Completion achieved for Cudjoe Key, accept for
System redesigned Puerto Bello neighborhood. Giannetti continues
installing sewer lines on Summerland Key. Transmission work
on US1 continues. Asphalt restoration being applied on Cudjoe
and Upper Sugarloaf Keys.
Action: FDEP approved Cudjoe Key collection/transmission
system for operation. Prepare for connections. Continue
transmission system, pump stations and pavement
restoration on all three inner islands.
2. Advanced Wastewater Wharton-Smith successfully completed startup testing. Deep
Treatment Facility well system has begun engineering phase. Preapplication
meeting held with FDEP for deep well.
Action: Certification documents sent to FDEP for operation
approval.Awaiting final clearance from FDEP.
3. Outer Islands' Collection Layne complete with collection system piping on Lower
System Sugarloaf, Ramrod and Little Torch. Collection system work on
Big Pine Key continues in full stride.
Action: Continue transmission work along US1, collection
system completions on Big Pine Key. Asphalt overlay on
Lower Sugarloaf, Ramrod and Little Torch.
4. Public Information FKAA has sent reminder letters for easement requests.
Installation costs to customers will be initiated if easements
not received by deadline dates. Rate hearings set for June/July.
Action: Continue with public outreach, website updates and
field meetings. Increase easement inventory to allow
contractors to increase grinder pump station installs.
5. On-Site Systems FDOH permitting underway for systems to be built on
Big/Middle Torch Keys and Big Pine Key.
Action:Improve permitting efforts to obtain smaller
footprint systems. Minimize number of onsite systems upon
County acceptance of adding properties to central system.
