11 A RESOLUTION BY THE MONROE COUNTY BOARD OF
12 COUNTY COMMISSIONERS PRIORITIZING THE 2019
13 TRANSPORTATION ALTERNATIVES APPLICATIONS.

16 WHEREAS, the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) opened the 2019
17 Transportation Alternatives (TA) program and announced the application cycle on February 22,
18 2019; and
19
20 WHEREAS, the Transportation Alternatives grant program provides federal funding
21 available for non-motorized transportation and is administered by FDOT; and
22
23 WHEREAS, FDOT requires local priority rankings be approved by the Monroe County
24 Board of County Commissioners as part of the application process; and
25
26 WHEREAS, only one application was submitted for consideration for funding by
27 FDOT: Final Mile Mode Shift: Bike Facilities for Bus Routes, requesting $510,000; submitted
28 by the City of Key West of Monroe County; and
29
30 WHEREAS, a committee consisting of representatives from Monroe County evaluated
31 the application based on FDOT's required criteria; and
32
33 WHEREAS, the score of the 2019 application is based on a 100-point scale, and Final
34 Mile Mode Shift: Bike Facilities for Bus Routes received an overall average score of 76; and
35
36 WHEREAS, at a public hearing, the Board considered comments from citizens wishing
37 to speak on the matter; and

39 WHEREAS,the Board fully supports the funding of the application;
40
41 NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY
42 COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY,FLORIDA:

44 1. Monroe County prioritization of the 2019 Transportation Alternatives applications is as
45 follows:

2 2. Monroe County requests that the Florida Department of Transportation provide
3 Transportation Alternative funds to the subject project in the fifth year of the
4 upcoming FDOT District Six Tentative Work Program (2025) for Monroe County/the
5 City of Key West as requested by the applicant.

7 PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of County Commissioners of Monroe County, Florida,
8 at a regular meeting of the Board held on the 21'day of March,2019.
