A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA,
CONFIRMING THE COUNTY'S SUPPORT AND ABILITY
TO PROVIDE THE LOCAL FUNDING SHARE
NECESSARY TO IMPLEMENT THE FLORIDA BOATING
IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM OF THE FLORIDA FISH AND
WILDLIFE CONSERVATION COMMISSION IN WHICH
THE COUNTY ELECTS TO PARTICIPATE FOR DESIGN
AND INSTALLATION OF A BOAT DOCK AT THE BLIMP
ROAD BOAT RAMP AND TWO SAFETY AND EDUCATION
KIOSKS AT THE STATE ROAD 4-A AND BIG COPPITT
BOAT RAMPS; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE
WHEREAS, Monroe County's public boat ramps serve the needs of public boaters and
boating-related activities on coastal waters within the State and Monroe County; and
WHEREAS, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission ("FWC")
established a grant application submission cycle for local governments to apply for Florida Boating
Improvement Program("FBIP") funding of public boat ramps and boating related facilities; and
WHEREAS,the FBIP application submission period is February 1,2019 through April 4,
2019, and Monroe County qualifies as an eligible applicant that provides outdoor recreation sites
and boat ramps, docks, and related facilities for the use and benefit of the public; and
WHEREAS, the FBIP competitive grant program provides financial assistance to local
governmental entities for projects designed to serve the needs of boaters,public boat ramps,public
launching facilities, boater education and boating-related activities on coastal and inland waters
within the State pursuant to Sections 206.606 and 327.47, F.S.; and
WHEREAS, the Monroe County Board of County Commissioners supports outdoor
recreation projects, public boating-related activities and FBIP programs of the FWC, from which
funding is requested, subject to the County's regulatory authority and Code of Ordinances; and
WHEREAS, Monroe County is able to serve as a local sponsor and has the ability to
provide the local funding share necessary to implement the FBIP projects in which the County
elects to participate; and
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: The recitations set forth above are hereby incorporated by reference herein.
Section 2: The Board of County Commissioners of Monroe County("BOCC")supports the
Florida Boating Improvement Grant Program ("FBIP") of the Florida Fish and Wildlife
Conservation Commission.
Section 3: The BOCC approves of County Project Management to make applications to
the FBIP for funding for design and installation of a new boat dock at the Blimp Road boat ramp

and for installation of two safety and educational kiosks at the State Road 4-A and Big Coppitt
boat ramps in Monroe County.
Section 4; The BOCC affirms its ability to serve as local sponsor and is able to provide the
appropriate local funding share to implement these FBIP projects.
Section 5: Effective Date,This Resolution shall become effective upon adoption.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of County Commissioners of Monroe County,
Florida at a regular meeting of said Board on the 21'day of March 2019.
