ITEM BACKGROUND: The Monroe County Mayor declared a State of Local Emergency on September 5, 2017. Hurricane Irma, a Category 4 hurricane, made landfall in the Florida Keys on September 10, 2017, causing substantial damage and loss of property. The Disaster Recovery Department was established to coordinate long-term recovery efforts with local, state, federal, non-profit and private sector stakeholders. This briefing will provide an update of activities which have occurred to date to support this effort and an overview of upcoming events.
