08/06/2004 Special Meeting MINUTES OF THE 2004/001 MONROE COUNTY VALUE ADJUSTMENT BOARD Special Meeting Gato Building Friday, August 6, 2004 The Special Meeting of the Monroe County Value Adjustment Board convened at 10:00 a.m., on the above date, at the Gato Building located at 1100 Simonton Street, Key West. Present and answering to roll call were School Board Member Andy Griffiths, School Board Member Pat Labrada, Commissioner George Neugent, and Commissioner Dixie Spehar, Chairman. Absent was Mayor Murray Nelson. Also present were Pamela Hancock, Deputy Clerk; Ervin A. Higgs, Property Appraiser; Richard Collins, County Attorney; Bob Shillinger, Assistant County Attorney; and Attorney John Dent, representing the Property Appraiser. All stood for the Invocation and Pledge of Allegiance. Bob Shillinger, Assistant County Attorney discussed consideration of an offer put forth by the Property Appraiser to settle the suit he filed against the 2003 Value Adjustment Board. John Dent, representing the Property Appraiser, Richard Collins, County Attorney and Sheila Anderson, representing Commercial Properties Services addressed the Board. After discussion, Mr. Collins advised that he would like the Board to authorize the County Attorney's Office to enter into the Settlement Agreement substantially the format that's in front of you, subject to some final language. Motion was made by Commissioner Neugent and seconded by School Board Member Labrada granting approval of the Settlement Agreement, with final language amendments to be supplied by the County Attorney's Office. Roll call vote was unanimous. Commissioner Spehar discussed a time frame to hold a training session of the Value Adjustment Board, to include all School Board Members and Board of County Commissioners, to be conducted by the County Attorney's Office. Pamela Hancock, Deputy Clerk, Mr. Collins, and Mr. Shillinger addressed that Board. After discussion, it was decided that the Clerk's Office and County Attorney's Office would coordinate the date.
