12/04/2001 Final Meeting c- MINUTES OF THE MONROE COUNTY VALUE ADJUSTMENT BOARD Value Adjustment Board Marathon Government Annex Tuesday,December 4, 2001 The Final Meeting of the Monroe County Value Adjustment Board convened at 10:00 a.m., on the above date, at the Marathon Government Annex, 490 63rd Street-Oceanside, Marathon. Present were Commissioner George Neugent, Commissioner Dixie Spehar, Commissioner Nora Williams, Monroe County School Board Members Debora Walker and Pat Labrada. Also present were Danny L. Kolhage, Clerk of the Court; Pamela Hancock, Deputy Clerk; John C. Dent, Attorney for the Property Appraiser; and James T. Hendrick, County Attorney. Motion was made by Commissioner Neugent and seconded by School Board Member Labrada to approve the Minutes of the September 28, 2001 Organizational Meeting of the Value Adjustment Board. Motion carried unanimously. Motion was made by Commissioner Williams and seconded by Commissioner Neugent granting approval of the Special Master's Recommendations, Findings of Fact, Conclusions of Law & Recommendations to the Value Adjustment Board for the 2001 Homestead Petitions, with the exception of Petition Nos. 012-2001, 013-2001 and 014-2001, Petitioner enroute to the meeting. Motion carried unanimously. Said list is attached and made part of the record (attachment 1). Petition No. 047-2001, Islamorada, Village of Islands. Daniel Weiss, representing Islamorada, Village of Islands; John Dent, representing the Property Appraiser's Office; James Hendrick, representing the Value Adjustment Board; and Thomas Wright, Special Master addressed the Board. After discussion, motion was made by Commissioner Williams and seconded by School Board Member Walker to uphold the Special Master's Recommendations. Roll call vote was unanimous. Petition No. 149-2001, Ray Franklin Wood. Mr. Wood; Mr. Dent; and Mr. Wright addressed the Board. After discussion, motion was made by Commissioner Williams and seconded by Commissioner Neugent to uphold the Special Master's Recommendations. Roll call vote was taken with the following results: School Board Member Labrada No Commissioner Neugent Yes School Board Member Walker Yes Commissioner Williams Yes Chairperson Spehar Yes Motion carried. Motion was made by Commissioner Williams and seconded by Commissioner Neugent granting approval of the Special Master's Recommendations, Findings of Fact, Conclusions of Law & Recommendations to the Value Adjustment Board for the 2001 Real/Tangible Petitions, with the exception of Petition Nos. 067-2001, 068-2001 and 069-2001, Petitioner enroute to the meeting. Motion carried unanimously. Said list is attached and made part of the record (attachment 2). John Antony arrived at the meeting and discussed Petition Nos. 012-2001, 013-2001, and 014-2001. After discussion, motion was made by Commissioner Williams and seconded by School Board Member Labrada to uphold the Special Master's Recommendations. Roll call vote was unanimous. Gary Appel arrived at the meeting and discussed Petition Nos. 067-2001, 068-2001, and 069-2001. Mr. Wright addressed the Board. After discussion, motion was made by Commissioner Williams and seconded by School Board Member Walker to uphold the Special Master's Recommendations. Roll call vote was unanimous. Motion was made by School Board Member Labrada and seconded by Commissioner Neugent granting approval of Expenditures for Special Master fees and Legal Notices, as well as any forthcoming invoices. Roll call vote was unanimous. Motion was made by Commissioner Williams and seconded by School Board Member Labrada granting approval of the Certification of the Tax Roll (attachment 3). Roll call vote was unanimous. There being no further business to come before the Board, motion was made by School Board Member Walker and seconded by Commissioner Williams to adjourn the hearing.
