Grant application will be for $500,000 with no County match required. ITEM BACKGROUND: The National Park Service grant program (via DHR processes) is providing grant funding for national-registered historic buildings needing repair from Hurricane Irma. Two buildings at Pigeon Key were moved off their foundations. Project Management proposes submitting a DHR grant application for a project to construct new foundations, repair and restore the structures, and move the structures to their new foundations. The National Parks grant provides an opportunity to submit applications for a grant that could provide the County with supplementary funding for the design and implementation of building restoration for the Commissary and Honeymoon Cottage buildings at Pigeon Key. Monroe County would not be required to provide any matching funds for this project. The proposed Resolution is attached for approval. PREVIOUS RELEVANT BOCC ACTION: 2/20/2019 — BOCC approved a Task Order with Bender & Associates for the design of the hurricane repairs to the Commissary Building and Honeymoon Cottage and also updating of the Historic Structures Report.
