FORD/AEROTECH 22' CAW, with up tol4 ambulatory positions and up to 5 wheelchair positions. The smaller bus will help us to get around more efficiently throughout the Florida Keys. The Florida Keys have smaller roads and lanes and require a smaller vehicle in order to more efficiently handle the client load that we currently have. It will eventually replace the above mentioned vehicle once it has proven to continue to cost more to run and repair than a newer, smaller more efficient vehicle. The older bus is continuing to run up maintenance calls and downtime because of them. Our fleet could benefit from the existence of a newer, more economical and fuel efficient bus. Reducing maintenance costs and increasing fuel efficiency is our goal. Our office is dedicated to streamlining our operations to produce greater numbers of passenger trips while decreasing the amount of maintenance costs and fuel usage that our fleet utilizes. All vehicles in our fleet and those utilized by other departments in our division have been placed on the County's preventative maintenance plan. Client outreach continues throughout the keys and will again be the focus for this fiscal year especially targeting the elderly and the disabled along with other transportation disadvantaged individuals. Elderly organization meetings are attended on a regular basis in an attempt to introduce and re-acquaint the aging population with the services we provide. The Special Needs Registry targets the elderly and disabled to make sure they are not forgotten as storms may threaten or other natural or man-made emergencies may occur. The transportation of those individuals is assured by continuing to maintain a well- equipped fleet. {{ k, BOARD OF C Ot N'Tl COMMISSEONTRS 1t Cou ty of Monroe jz a}t>r Get>rgc tciagent District Mawr fro Ccm 1 leather Carruthers, District 3 Danny t Kolhau° District t The Florida Keys < . 1 Da\id Rice.
