A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA,
CONFIRMING THE COUNTY'S SUPPORT AND ABILITY
TO PROVIDE THE LOCAL SUPPORT NECESSARY TO
IMPLEMENT THE NATIONAL PARK SERVICE STATE
DEPARTMENT OF HISTORICAL RESOURCES (DHR)
GRANT PROGRAM IN WHICH THE COUNTY ELECTS
TO PARTICIPATE FOR THE REPARATION OF THE KEY
WEST LIGHTHOUSE; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE
DATE
WHEREAS, the Key West Lighthouse and Keeper's Quarters is a historic property
owned by Monroe County and operated as a museum by the Key West Art &Historical Society;
and
WHEREAS, the National Park Service (NPS) has established an application submission
cycle for a Special Subgrant, giving grants to historic buildings damaged by Hurricane Irma; and
WHEREAS, the NPS application submission will be appropriated through the Florida
State Legislature as a State Division of Historical Resources (DHR) grant for a brief period of
time, from approximately May 1, 2019 through June 15, 2019, and is to provide funding to assist -
major local,regional, and statewide efforts to repair damages due to Hurricane Irma; and
WHEREAS, the grant will be applied through and managed by the State as a DHR
Special Category Grant and will receive funding without a matching fund requirement; and
WHEREAS, Monroe County is able to serve as a local sponsor and has the ability to
provide the local project the support necessary to implement the DHR projects in which the
County elects to participate; and
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: Recitals. The recitations set forth above are hereby incorporated by
reference herein.
Section 2: The Board of County Commissioners of Monroe County ("BOCC")
supports the State Division of Historical Resources (DHR), for which funding is requested from
the State of Florida, subject to the County's regulatory authority and Code of Ordinances.
Section 3: The DHR funding is requested for repair of the Key West Lighthouse and
Keeper's Quarters museum.
Section 4: The BOCC affirms its ability to serve as local sponsor to implement this
DHR project.

Section 5: Effective Date.This Resolution shall become effective upon adoption.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of County Commissioners of Monroe County,
Florida at a regular meeting of said Board on the 22"a day of May, 2019.
