ITEM BACKGROUND: Cheryl Cioffari, AICP, is being recommended as Acting Sr. Director of Planning and Environmental Resources effective on or around 6/10/19, while Emily Schemper is out on Family Medical Leave Act(FMLA). She has the credentials and experience to fill the position. Her time as Acting Sr. Director of Planning and Environmental Resources would end upon Emily Schemper's return to work from FMLA. Florida law 125.74(1)(k), requires that the Board of County Commissioners confirm all department heads. Because the Land Development Code vests the Director of Planning and Environmental Resources with the authority to make binding interpretations of the code, formal confirmation of the acting director is being sought.
