ITEM BACKGROUND: The Byrne/JAG program is a national formula-based, block grant program and is administered by the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs. • The Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant program focuses on improving the criminal justice system by funding initiatives in local jurisdictions. • Monroe County's allocation for the upcoming fiscal year is $72,694 • Awards may be approved for a six (6) to eighteen (18) month project period between October 1, 2018 and September 30, 2020. The Substance Abuse Policy Advisory Board (SAPAB) convened on May 7, 2019.
