ITEM BACKGROUND:
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is requesting a temporary easement on a portion
of a parcel owned by Monroe County at the intersection of US1 and Burton Drive in Tavernier
(approximate MM 92.7, ocean side; RE 4 00488730-000000). The property is leased by Monroe
County to Gorman & Company as Managing Member of Blue Water Workforce Housing, LLC, who
has already assented to the easement.
FDOT is commencing a roadway improvement project to realign the intersection of US and Burton
Drive, and is requesting the temporary easement on the northwest corner of the property for the
purpose of providing access to FDOT's construction site and staging equipment during the project.
No permanent changes are proposed to the easement area; the site will be restored to its current
condition after construction.
The easement would commence upon execution, terminating upon the earlier of(a.) 36 months after
execution, (b) January 25th, 2022, or (c.) upon completion of the FDOT project. Work is expected
to begin in February 2021, and to last about 4 months.

The Florida Department of Transportation (The Department) is planning roadway
improvements on State Road (SR) 5 / US1/Overseas Highway. The project limits extend0.
from MM93 to MM 92, including the road median of Burton Drive that connects the South
and North Bound Lanes.
Some of the project improvements includes milling & resurfacing to roadway, a 00
realignment of Burton Road to include the median portion of the road, modifying existing
Shell and Circle K convenience store driveway, modifying storm drains manholes, utility
manholes, and water valves, enhancing pavement markings, pedestrian ramps, signed
and detectable warning surfaces, and adding new crosswalks on east leg of Burton Drive
at the northbound SR-5/US 1/Overseas Highway. The project is expected to begin
sometime in February 2021.

The Florida Department of Transportation (The Department) is planning roadway
improvements on State Road (SR) 5 / US1/ Overseas Highway. The project limits extend
from MM93 to MM 92, including the road median of Burton Drive that connects the South U
and North Bound Lanes.
Some of the project improvements includes milling & resurfacing to roadway, a
realignment of Burton Road to include the median portion of the road, modifying existing
Shell and Circle K convenience store driveway, modifying storm drains manholes, utility
manholes, and water valves, enhancing pavement markings, pedestrian ramps, signed
and detectable warning surfaces, and adding new crosswalks on east leg of Burton Drive
at the northbound SR-5/US1/Overseas Highway. The project is expected to begin
sometime in February 2021. U)
