AGENDA ITEM WORDING: Award of bid and approval of contract with Maverick United
Elevator, LLC for complete Elevator and Lift Service, Maintenance and Repairs for an annual
amount not to exceed $175,000.00. Funding is Ad Valorem.
ITEM BACKGROUND: The current contract for Elevator and Lift Service with Maverick United
Elevator, LLC, expires on November 30, 2019. There are thirty-six (36) elevators and two (2)
wheelchair lifts in Monroe County facilities located countywide that require annual inspections,
repairs, and maintenance. On October 17, 2019, three (3)proposals were received by the Purchasing
Department in response to a Request for Proposals which had been advertised for Complete Elevator
and Lift Service, Maintenance, and Repairs for countywide services. When the sealed bids were
opened on October 17, 2019, the three (3) respondents were Fiji Elevator, Oracle Elevator, and
Maverick United Elevator. A Selection Committee met on October 23, 2019, and Maverick United
Elevator, LLC was determined to be the most responsible, responsive bidder based on the ranking
criteria. Maverick's proposal was submitted to the legal department for review, which included
performance of a background check. Based on that review, the Committee recommends that the
BOCC should accept the proposal of Maverick United Elevator and be awarded the bid award
agreement. The initial term of the Contract is for two (2) years commencing December 1, 2019, and
terminating on November 30, 2021. The County has an option to renew the Agreement for up to an
additional three (3) one-year periods. The total compensation annually for the monthly and annual
inspections, service, maintenance, and repairs shall not exceed $175,000.00, which is funded through
ad valorem.
PREVIOUS RELEVANT BOCC ACTION: The current contract with Maverick United
Elevator, LLC was awarded on November 22, 2016, commenced on December 1, 2016, and expires
on November 30, 2019. This contract is being awarded under a new competitive solicitation request
for proposals.
