ZONING RESOLUTION NO. Z- /_ /d /
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Monroe County,
Florida, desires to amend paragraph N, Section 4, of the Monroe County
Zoning Regulations, as hereinafter set forth, now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
OF MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, that paragraph N, Section 4, of the
Monroe County Zoning Regulations, be, and the same is hereby amended
to read as follow s:
SECTION 4
N. Boats or other floating structures being used as dwelling units
or commercial establishments may not anchor off-shore in public or pri-
vate canals or waterways in any zoning clas sification without fir st filing
an application for a Public Hearing and obtaining Zoning Board approval.
Applications shall be enforced to include the following:
1. All Coast Guard rules of navigation shall apply to houseboats
utilizing such public, private canals or waterways.
2. The property that shall be used for location of houseboats
will not be used for any purpose not permitted by the applicable laws and
Zoning Hegulations of Monroe County.
3. No outside toilets shall be erected, constructed or maintained
on any property approved for houseboat occupancy.
4. The owner or developer has or will install suitable and
adequate sanitary facilities approved by the laws of the State of Florida
and in no event shall be less than a swerage disposal system through an
efficient septic tank or other sanitary disposal system authorized by the
Building and Zoning Code of Monroe County, Florida.

5. Minimum mooring standards shall include permanent moorings,
as distinguished from ordinary ground tackel in daily use, All houseboats
shall be permanently moored with eight cleats numbered from bow aft, as
follow s :

Permanent docking of houseboat shall not be approved unless houseboat
is a minimum of 30' length and permanently moored at all times with follow-
ing Diameter Lines;

When fiber is used it should be protected with chafing gear.
Permits issued for houseboat occupancy through a Public Hearing,
shall not be granted for more than one year. renewable at the discretion of the
Zoning Director upon application of same and renewable fees in the amount of
$50.00 per year.
