Land Authority AGENDA ITEM WORDING: Approval of a resolution authorizing the transfer of conservation properties on Fat Deer Key, Crawl Key, and Grassy Key to the City of Marathon subject to a conservation easement. ITEM BACKGROUND: The Marathon City Council has adopted Resolution 2016-47 requesting a land swap with respect to City-owned conservation properties located outside the Marathon city limits and Land Authority-owned conservation properties located inside the Marathon city limits. This agenda item implements the second half of the swap. The proposed resolution authorizes the Land Authority to transfer ownership to the City of the 102 conservation properties the Land Authority owns within the Marathon city limits. At closing, the City will grant a conservation easement back to the Land Authority. The Land Authority purchased two of the properties with Preservation 2000 funds from the Florida Communities Trust. The balance of the land was purchased with the Land Authority's local funds or was received via donation. The Land Authority acquired all the properties prior to the City incorporating. ADVISORY COMMITTEE ACTION: On December 18, 2019 the Committee voted 3/0 to approve the resolution and conservation easement. The above recitals are true and correct and incorporated herein. Section 2. The City of Marathon requests that the Monroe County Land Authority and Board of County Commissioners transfer ownership of 123 parcels currently held and managed by the County within the City of Marathon, as identified in Exhibit A (attached). ° 0 Section 3. The City of Marathon further requests that Monroe County accept the transfer of ownership of eighteen parcels held by the City within the County's jurisdiction as further elucidated in Exhibit A. 0 Section 4.
