The program builds upon the successful registered apprentice programs offered by the College in Key West. The College will utilize targeted recruitment to reach low- and very low- income individuals and offer a variety of academic support services at no cost to participants. The apprentices earn an hourly salary while they learn the necessary skills for the trade and attend tuition-free classes, while also completing On-the-Job Training under the direct supervision and instruction of experienced professionals. The College will work with industry stakeholders and the Monroe County Disaster Recovery Director to encourage businesses to serve as sponsor employers and hire program participants.
