AGENDA ITEM WORDING:
Approval of a resolution by the Monroe County Board of County Commissioners amending the Building
Department Fee Schedule fixing fees for lateral sewer and grinder pump permit connections at $70 total
and exempting lateral and grinder pumps from Permit Referral Process (PRP) fees, while still requiring
PRP review.
ITEM BACKGROUND:
This amendment follows the previous discussion item presented to the BOCC on 11/20/13 where the
Board directed staff to amend the Building Department Fee Schedule to charge a fee of $70.00 for
lateral and grinder pump permits (including plumbing and electric) and to exempt this permit type from
the permit referral process (PRP) fees, even though the permits will still go through the PRP review
process, if required. The $70.00 fee is now reflected in Section(B)26.

8 A RESOLUTION AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 260-2013, THE
9 BUILDING DEPARTMENT FEE SCHEDULE CLARIFYING FEES
10 FOR LATERAL AND GRINDER PUMP PERMITS.

12 WHEREAS, the Monroe County Board of County Commissioners wishes to provide the
13 citizens of the County with the best possible service in the most cost effective and reasonable manner;
14 and
15
16 WHEREAS,the Board finds that it is in the best interests of the public to charge the true cost
17 for such services, thereby placing the burden of such costs directly upon those parties deriving the
18 benefit from such services; and
19
20 WHEREAS, the updated fee schedule prepared by the Growth Management Director for
21 providing these services includes the estimated direct costs and reasonable indirect costs of services;
22 and does reflect the true cost of providing the services to the person(s) requesting the Building
23 Department services; and
24
25 WHEREAS, the Board concurs with the conclusions and findings of the Growth
26 Management Director,
