Resolution 052-1960 RESOLUTION NO. 52 RESOLUTION PLACING COUNTY FACILITIES AT DISPOSAL OF GOVERNOR IN EVi:.NT OF ENEMY ATTACK AND DESIGNATING CHAIRMAN OF COUNTY COMMISSION OR HIS ALTERNATE TO SERVE ON SOUTHERN FLORIDA CIVIL DEFENSE OPERd%TIONAL AREA AUTHORITY (3GFOA) AS REPRESENTATIVE OF L.ONROE COUNTY. WHEREAS, there exists a threat to the safety and security of the people of the United stages and to the resi- dents and visitors of =lonroe County, Florida, by enemy force>s; and WHEREAS, attacks may be expected to be delivered, with or without warning, by method available to the ene•*:y, of a destructive capacity sufficient to devastate the large population concentrations of nonroe (:ounty and the military installations of this state dedicated to the defense and retaliation efforts of the United States and its allies; and WHEREAS, The L*ov©rnor of the State of Florida, in cooperation with the Office of Civil and Defense •tobilization, has ordered an operational Survival Plan to be prepared for the purpose of minimizing the cas•,telties among our people, and to preserve this State's economic resources, and to assure the continuity of our government; NOW, THEREFORE, E IT RESOLVED Y THE "OARD OF • COUNTY COMMISSIONERS NROE COUNTY, FLORIDA: 1) That the full resources, facilities, services and support capabilities of the County will, upon notification of such attack, be placed under the control of the Governor of this tate or his duly constituted authority; and t 2) That in order to coordinate all efforts of mutual security and survival, we do hereby designate the Chairman of this =oard or his alternate to serve as the representative of this County on the Southern Florida Civil Defense Operational Area Authority, which in the event of enemy attack, shall exercise all duties, responsibilities, and obligations as the governmental authority over the thirteen southern counties of the 3trte of Florida, as designated by the State Director of Civil Defense and approve by the Governor of this State, with such authority continuing until otherwise directed by the Governor of the State of Florida.
