Whereas,The Florida Keys Outreach Coalition, Monroe County Homeless Services Continuum-of-Care,
and Monroe County Social Services will commemorate "National Homelessness Persons' Memorial
Day;" and,
Whereas,the spirit of the holiday season of goodwill toward all provides an opportunity for the

affirmation and renewal regarding our commitment to end homelessness; and,

Whereas, in the season of peace and goodwill, the citizens of Monroe County are encouraged to commit y
themselves to promoting compassion and concern for all members of our One Human Family, especially

those who are poor and homeless; and, CL
Whereas, on Monday December 21st, the Florida Keys Outreach Coalition will coordinate a virtual
memorial service and remember the homeless individuals who have died in Key West and Monroe
County over the past year, FKOC will then inter their remains in the FKOC vault at the historic Key West 0
Cemetery; and,
Whereas, by remembering those who have died on the streets the cause of ending homelessness is kept
urgent; as is the community's collective commitment to preventing such deaths in the future; Z

We would like to urge all citizens, residents, and to pause for a moment on the longest night of the year
to remember homeless persons who have died and to support all local efforts to address the underlying
causes and complex issues surrounding homelessness. 0
