CASA MARINA DAY
Celebrating the 100th Anniversary of Casa Marina,A Waldorf Astoria Resort
WHEREAS,the purpose of this proclamation is to celebrate Casa Marina,A Waldorf Astoria Resort
and its 100 years of service to the City of Key West;and
WHEREAS,we pay tribute to Henry Morrison Flagler,American industrialist,co-founder of
Standard Oil,and founder of the Overseas Railroad,who conceived the resort over a century ago;and
WHEREAS,we honor the rich history of the resort,including being converted into US Navy office
headquarters from 1942-1946 and commandeered by the US military during the Cuban Missile Crisis in
1962;and
WHEREAS,we congratulate the resort staff over the last century who have upheld tradition and
maintained Casa Marina as a leading leisure resort and dining destination for locals and visitors alike;
WHEREAS,the Monroe County Board of Commissioners looks forward to another century of
exemplary resort service and commitment to supporting the local community;
NOW THEREFORE,be it proclaimed December 31,2020 as
CASA MARINA DAY
We congratulate Casa Marina on its 100th Anniversary and congratulate the staff over the last century for
commitment to supporting the local community.
