EMPLOYEE SERVICE AWARD
MARCH 2011
HOLLY PFIESTER
Ms. Pfiester joined the Engineering/Project Management department in August
2010 from Public Works. During the period of August-September 2010 she
continued to cover the responsibilities of her Public Works position in Marathon
until her replacement was selected and on board. At the same time she was
learning the duties of her new department. Shortly after her Public Works
replacement was on board, the other administrative assistant/technician in her new
department had taken another position. Ms. Pfiester was called upon to handle the
responsibilities of that position as well. During this transition period of more than
seven months, Ms. Pfiester was able to successfully learn key elements of two jobs
coordinate priorities among three supported departments, reduce operating
expenses by replacing some office equipment leases and coordinate a major
computer equipment upgrade for all department members. During much of this
time her work location was split between Marathon and Key West.
Ms. Pfiester enthusiasm for the job has been infectious. Her demeanor towards
the public is always friendly and she provides a seamless public interface whether
she is working out of the Marathon or Key West office. She herself is available to
both offices as needed and never complains. She has adapted well and has gone
above and beyond to assist during the transition period and continues to do so.
