Steve Stoddard is here today to accept an award for 20 years of service to the
County. However he has actually served the Airport and the County for
almost 25 years. When he was originally hired in 1975 as a Crash Crew
Rescue Officer he was considered a grant employee under the CET A
program, By the end of 1979 he obtained official Monroe County employee
status and his job title was changed to Airport Safety Officer,
Over the years, Steve has worked his way up the ranks of the Airport Rescue
and Fire Fighting Service to become it's Chief, a position he has held since
1992.
Weare extremely proud to have a person with Steve's experience in charge
of such a vital service at the Key West International Airport. He has the
responsibility to protect the safety and well being of not only the 541,000
airline passengers who fly into and out of our facility, but also the countless
thousands of General Aviation pilots and passengers who use the field as
well.
We appreciate and commend his commitment and service to the Airport and
the citizens of Monroe County.
