1 This figure would have been increased by $39,500.00 (St. v. Linda Tomaltv-Yea). The lower
Court erroneously granted an illegal extension to the bondsman (to find the defendant). The
County filed its appeal, however, the case was amicably settled prior to oral argument. The
County did recover its Appellate filing fee, costs, and cost of transporting the defendant.

III. SA VINGS RE: THIRD DISTRICT COURT OF
APPEALS-FILING FEES FOR INDIGENT COSTS:
(This office had determined that the $250.00 filing fee for indigent appeals needn't
be paid by the County. That decision was subsequently affirmed by the Florida
Supreme Court. This figure is a conservative estimate, based upon two prior years
of paid 3rd DCA fees and these savings should continue ad infinitum).
The annual saving.:: is $10,000.00 on the average..............................................$2,500.00
(This figure is calculated as of date and is the best I can do because
some cases are pending, which may upon resolution, show either a
loss or a gain)
Total- Fourth Ouarter. Fiscal Year 1998-1999............................................$57.955.34
