Item P06 Board of County Commissioners AGENDA ITEM SUMMARY Meeting Date: July 26, 2000 Division: County Attorney AGENDA ITEM WORDING: Approval of an interlocal agreement with the Village of Islamorada for the distribution of the local option gas tax. ITEM BACKGROUND: The Village approved a version of the interlocal, copy provided, but without furnishing a copy to the County staff for review before approving the same. The Village version contemplates a revision of the amount due the Village during the agreement term. That is not acceptable because the budget is established on an annual basis. PREVIOUS RELEVANT BOCC ACTION: BOCC and the Village approved a similar agreement for this (1999-2000) fiscal year. STAFF RECOMMENDATION: Approval. The parties agree as follows: Section 1. The Village, in fiscal year 2000-2001, shall receive out of out of the County's share of the local option gas tax the sum of $294,500, which the parties agree is the amount the Village is entitled to under Sec. 336.025, F.S. The funds will be distributed directly to the Village by the Florida Department of Revenue. Section 2. Distributions of the local option gas tax to the Village in subsequent fiscal years will be pursuant to a formula set forth in an interlocal agreement entered into under Sec. 336.025(3)(a)(1), F.S. Section 3. This Interlocal agreement will take effect when certified copies are filed with the Circuit Court and the Village Clerk.
