AGENDA ITEM WORDING: Approval of a Resolution in recognition of
the late Joseph Henry Roth, Sr.
ITEM BACKGROUND: Recognition is given to the family of the late
Joseph Henry Roth, Sr. He was involved in the business industry
until his retirement in 1990 at the age of 72. He supported many
organizations including the American Cancer Society, American Red
Cross and Hospice.

RESOLUTION NO. -2000
A RESOLUTION IN RECOGNITION
OF THE LATE JOSEPH HENRY ROTH, SR.
WHEREAS, Joseph Henry Roth, Sr., passed away on September 17, 2000 at
the age of 82; and
WHEREAS, Joseph Henry Roth, Sr., was born in Union City, New Jersey, to
Joseph Francis and Elizabeth Roth; and
WHEREAS, Joseph Henry Roth, Sr., served in the U.S. Army Airborne
during World War II as a medic and was honorably discharged in 1946; and
WHEREAS, Joseph Henry Roth, Sr., went to work at Consumers Dairy as a
delivery man and worked his way up to president of the company in the late
1950s, and Consumers Dairy became part of Sealtest Foods in the 1960s; and
WHEREAS, Joseph Henry Roth, Sr., moved his family to Florida in 1963
when he and his wife, Edna, purchased the Bagdad Hotel on Hollywood Beach;
and
WHEREAS, Joseph Henry Roth, Sr., continued his involvement with the
dairy industry as a manufacturer's representative until his retirement in 1990 at
the age of 72; and
WHEREAS, Joseph Henry Roth, Sr., was an avid golfer and member of
Rotary International. He supported many organizations including the American
Cancer Society, American Red Cross and Hospice; and
WHEREAS, Joseph Henry Roth, Sr., leaves his beloved wife and best friend
of 59 years, Edna Roth; one daughter, Susan Roth of Washington; two sons,
Joseph H. Roth, Jr. of Islamorada and Naples, and Craig Roth of Islamorada; one
sister, Loret Jaeger of New Jersey; seven grandchildren, Staci McDonough,
Krista Remley, Joseph H. Roth III, Jodi Lynn Lesko, Kristy Ross, Chelsea Roth
and Cory Roth; five great grandchildren, and many, many friends to cherish his
memory; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF
MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The Board hereby adopts this Resolution as evidence of its
regret and mourning for the passing of the late Joseph Henry Roth, Sr., and in
recognition of his dedication and vast public service to the community.
Section 2. Mayor Emeritus Harvey forwards a copy of this Resolution to
his beloved wife, Edna Roth, and family to express the Board's sorrow.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of County Commissioners of Monroe
County, Florida, at a regular meeting of said Board held on the day of
October, 2000.
