ITEM BACKGROUND: Stucco is deteriorating in various sections of the Courthouse Annex, and paint is weathered and peeling. In addition, the 3rd and 4th floor thresholds need to be raised and concrete poured for proper drainage (tiles to be replaced). A bid opening was held on September 14, 2000 for a contract to repair the stucco and painting, with four bidders responding. All bids received exceeded estimatcd budgct, and two companies excluded unit prices for unforeseen conditions as requested via addendum on Scptember 2,2000. Construction Management and Facilities Maintcnance have agreed to combine thc threshold raising project with the stucco and painting project. PREVIOUS RELEVANT BOCC ACTION: On Fcbruary 16, 2000, Monroe County BOCC approved to advcrtise for bids for stucco repair and painting at the Key West Courthouse Annex. STAFF RECOMMENDATION: Approval as stated above.
