Item C11 " J BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS AGENDA ITEM SUMMARY Meeting Date: 12-13-00 Division: Public Works Bulk Item: Yes X No Department: Elll!ineering AGENDA ITEM WORDING: Approval to award bid and enter into a contract with the lowest responsive bidder for the construction of two picnic shelters at Sombrero Beach, Marathon and authorization for the Mayor to execute same. ITEM BACKGROUND: These two shelters have been damaged by Hurricane Georges, and have since been removed. Multiple efforts have been made to procure these shelters using existing contracts (specifically the state negotiated pricing agreements - SNAPS) however, we were unable to receive a proposal to do a turnkey project. Therefore, we needed to design new shelters and go out for formal bids. FEMA has approved $50,000 for this work. Since this is considered to be a "large project" according to FEMA, the County will receive reimbursement for the actual amount, even if it exceeds $50,000. FEMA will fund 75%, the State will fund 12.5%, and the County will pay 12.5%. PREVIOUS RELEVANT BOCC ACTION: None on this item. STAFF RECOMMENDATION: Approval as stated above. TOTAL COST: Aooroximatelv $50.000 BUDGETED: Yes X NO FEMA: 75% = $37,500 State : 12.5% = 6,250 County: 12.5% = 6,250 Cost to County: $6.250.00 REVENUE PRODUCING: YES NO X AMOUNT PER MONTH YEAR APPROVED BY, County ~'llJ_-; rtw.mg _ Risk Management_ Item Prepared by: ~ t II-z- '!
