Pinder, who passed away at the age of 81 on December 13, 2000. ITEM BACKGROUND: Joe J. Pinder, born and raised in Key West, was active in the community including Chairman of the FKAA, with the honor of having the main building bear his name, President of both the Junior Chamber of Commerce and the Chamber of Commerce, President of the Key West Rotary Club and Founder of the Mental Health Center of Hope. COMMISSIONER DIXIE SPEHAR RESOLUTION NO. -2001 A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY IN RECOGNITION OF LIFE-LONG RESIDENT, THE LATE JOE J. PINDER WHEREAS, Joe J, Pinder, passed away at the age of 81 on December 13,2000; and WHEREAS, Joe was a life-long resident of Key West, a proud Key West Conch known for his dedication to serving the community; and WHEREAS, after Joe graduated from Key West High School in 1936, he went to work for the Florida National Bank in Key West as a teller, and after World War II Joe went from teller to President during his thirty five years of banking; and WHEREAS, Joe enlisted in the Army Air Force Corps during World War II and served in the European Theater of England and North Africa WHEREAS, Joe loved Key West and was very active in the community including Chairman of the Florida Keys Aqueduct Authority with the honor of having the main building bear his name; President of the Junior Chamber of Commerce and the Chamber of Commerce; President of the Key West Rotary Club; Founder and later head of the Navy League; Founder and Chairman of the Military Affairs Committee; and Founder and active member of the Mental Health Center of Hope; Recognized for his work with the Police Athletic League, WHEREAS, Joe leaves if wife, Marie Josephine Pinder; son, Joey Pinder, of Key West; nephew, Wesley Malone, and niece, Colleen Malone, both of Pompano Beach, and many friends to cherish his memory; and WHEREAS, Joe was a wonderful son to his parents, a loving husband, devoted father, neighbor and friend, He will be greatly missed by everyone whose life he touched, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MONROE COUNTY BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS: Section 1: The Board hereby adopts this Resolution as evidence of its regret and mourning for the passing of the late Joe J. Pinder.
