ITEM BACKGROUND: The County and the Monroe County Property Appraiser's Office (MCPA)work in close coordination and share resources, such as aerial photography. County staff utilizes aerial photography and photos acquired by the Property Appraiser's office on a daily basis and the data is an essential tool in development review activities, habitat evaluation, and code compliance research. Pursuant to Section 195.022, Florida Statutes, the Florida Department of Revenue is required at least once every three years, to provide property appraisers with aerial photographs; and in counties with a population greater than 25,000, such as Monroe County, such photography is at the property appraiser's expense. That schedule will be sent to DEO in May 2021, and requires an update to be performed in the coming year. Current aerial photography is required to perform the data update. The MCPA has allocated $162,731 in its current budget and agrees to apply it toward the cost of the aerial orthophotography and oblique digital photographs referenced above.
