She provides warm and professional services to library patrons who visit the Key West Library. But what is truly extraordinary about Nancy's service is her outreach to those unable to reach the Library. Nancy brings the library to the Senior Citizens' Center, offering them their favorite titles, and conducting book talks. She has developed a generous rapport with these elderly citizens and has many "fans" who eagerly look forward to her visits. Nancy doesn't stop there; she also conducts outreach programming to the Frederick Douglas Aftercare Program. She brings favorite books to the children and reads to each one. Writes the Frederick Douglas director: "Nancy has displayed an enthusiastic energy that cannot be measured, in the promotion of learning for our youth of the community." Nancy's outreach service is indicative of outreach programming that only large, urban libraries provide. Nancy's finest moment was the 1st Annual Library Haunted House and Halloween Party. Nancy charmed many large, area businesses and organizations into donating toys, materials, and food for this special event. She also gathered a troop of volunteers to entertain, spook and feed the children. This project served over 100 children and their families. This is why Nancy shines: she is always considering the needs of the community and how she can fulfill those needs.
