AN ORDINANCE OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE
COUNTY, FLORIDA, AMENDING SECTION 6-57(b), MONROE COUNTY
CODE, REQUIRING SIGNS PLACED ON CONTRACTORS' VEHICLES TO BE
PERMANENT; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; PROVIDING FOR THE
REPEAL OF ALL ORDINANCES INCONSISTENT HEREWITH; PROVIDING
FOR INCORPORATION INTO THE MONROE COUNTY CODE OF
ORDINANCES: AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE
WHEREAS, there have been problems with unlicensed persons using vehicles in a business
in violation of this Article and who remove or exchange vehicle signs composed of magnetic or
vinyl numbers and letters; now, therefore
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY,
FLORIDA:
Section 1.
Sec. 6-57(b), Monroe County Code, is hereby amended to read as follows:
(b) Contractors conducting their contr~cting within Monroe County anv business
reauirina a certificate of comoetencv or state reaistration '....ithin Monroe County
shall identify ~II vehicles have orominentlv disolaved on each side of each vehicle
used in the further~nce of their business by use in the to transport~ at materials,
equipment or employees to a job site, excepting a vehicle owned by an employee
which vehicle is and only used for private transportation or in carrying employees'
personal tools and personal equipment necessary to fulfill their job tasks, by
placing on the sides thereof identification of the contractor by trade nameL aflEJ
tAeif: certificate number, and business street address, or, if there is none, the
resident street address of the oerson ownina or ooeratina the business, in a size no
less than three (3) inches, excepting those vehicles rented or leased by a
contractor from a commercial vehicle rental agency for a period of less than one (1)
month and such vehicles are plainly marked with the name of the lessor in a size
which is easily readable. Anv sian showing anv of the above information must be
permanent in nature and not readilv removable or exchanaeable. Vinvl and
maanetic sians that are readilv removable or reolaceable do not meet the foreaoina
reauirements and are strictlv orohibited.
Section 2.
If any section, subsection, sentence, clause or provision of this ordinance is
held invalid, the remainder of this ordinance shall not be affected by such invalidity.
Section 3.
All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with this ordinance are
hereby repealed to the extent of said conflict.
Section 4.
The provisions of this ordinance shall be included and incorporated in the
Code of Ordinances of the County of Monroe, Florida, as an addition or amendment thereto, and
shall be appropriately renumbered to conform to the uniform numbering system of the Code.
Section 5.
This ordinance shall take effect immediately upon receipt of official notice
from the Office of the Secretary of State of the State of Florida that this ordinance has been filed
with said Office.
