ITEM BACKGROUND: The County previously had a contract with Brink's, Inc. for the pickup and delivery
of bank deposits for the Card Sound Toll Authority at a cost of over $20,000 per year and rising. The Sheriffs
Department agreed to provide this service at an estimated cost of $5,000 per year. A written agreement is
needed to clarify this arrangement and process associated invoices for reimbursement, and the cost of the service
is running approximately $6,600 per year.
PREVIOUS REV'ELANT BOCC ACTION: On December 15, 2000, the Board approved the Sheriff
Department's offer to pick up and deliver bank deposits for the Card Sound Toll Authority.

MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING
This Memorandum of Understanding is made and entered into this _ day of ,
2001, between the COUNTY OF MONROE, a political subdivision of the State of Florida (County) aQd the
MONROE COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE (Sheriff), as follows:
In exchange for the mutual promises and consideration set forth below, the parties agree as follows:
1. The Sheriff shall pick up bank deposits from the Card Sound Toll Authority and deliver them for
deposit at the County's authorized bank facilities (currently First State Bank) three days per
week.
2. The County shall reimburse the Sheriff the costs of overtime pay, including income tax
withholding, social security contribution, and Medicare tax, for the deputies who perform the
services described above. The Sheriff must present detailed invoices and back up
documentation showing date of service, hours worked, deputy's name and rate of pay. Total
reimbursement shall not to exceed $6,600 per annum.
3. The term of this agreement is from December 15, 2000 until December 14, 2001, and shall
continue from year to year unless specifically cancelled by either party by providing at least 60
days prior written notice to the other party of their intent to cancel, subject to paragraph 4 of this
agreell,lent.
4. Monroe County's obligation to pay under this agreement is contingent upon an annual funding
appropriation by the Board of County Commissioners.
5. This written agreement represents the entire Agreement between the parties and supersedes
any prior written documents or memoranda or oral communications.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, the parties have hereunto set their hands and seal, the day and year
first written above.
