AGENDA ITEM WORDING: Approval of Change Order No.1 for Storm Sewer Cleaning II in the amount
of $29,736.25.
ITEM BACKGROUND: After Hurricane Georges, an assessment of our storm sewer system was
made and it was determined that the system needed to be cleaned. Partial funding was received from
FEMA and gas tax revenue will pay for the rest. During work, additional underground pipe and catch
basins were discovered that also needed to be cleaned.
PREVIOUS REVELANT BOCC ACTION: On November 21,2000, the BOCC approved a
contract with Synagro Southeast, Inc. to clean the storm sewers in the amount of $230,313.23.
CONTRACT/AGREEMENT CHANGES: Add pipe and catch basins to be cleaned.
STAFF RECOMMENDATIONS: Approval as stated above.

The additional work was essentially an adjustment in quantities. It is not logical or practical
to have another contractor clean the additional pipe or catch basins. Further, it is unlikely
that anQther contractor could do the work cheaper since they would have to add
mobiliiation costs.
