TESTIMONIAL FOR SARAH, "TINY" CURRY
EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH, JUNE, 2001
Sarah Curry (known as "Tiny") has been an employee with the Monroe County Social Ser.vices
Department, Senior Nutrition Program since 1977,24 years. As such, she provides direct
assistance to Monroe County residents. Ms. Curry is Manager of the Truman School Nutrition
Site in Key West. "Tiny" is responsible for preparation and distribution of meals for the
Congregate Meal Site at Truman School and delivery of hot or frozen meals to homes of
medically needy program participants in Key West and the Lower Keys. With all this to do, she
also pays special attention to her clients and is admired by them and Nutrition Program staff.
Since Tiny is a Key West Native (Conch) she is familiar with many of the people she serves.
During an intake interview at a client's home, which required completion of a detailed, five-page
form, Tiny immediately put the woman at ease by exchanging "old Key West" stories. What
could have been a difficult interview became a casual "chat session" while the intake process was
successfully completed. Tiny is extremely dedicated and a very hard worker. Not only is she
effective at her job, she brings extra joy into her clients' lives, who often don't have much more
than her smiling face and warm words to get them through the day.
When Tiny sadly lost her beloved husband, instead of quitting, she returned to work after the
mourning period and continued to help people. She is an exemplary employee and person and is
well deserving of the "Employee of the Month award".
