The greater Big Coppitt wastewater area (Rockland Key, Big Coppitt Key, Geiger Key, Shark Key, and Bay Point/Saddlebunch) are within the geographical boundaries ofthe FKAA's wastewater authority and jurisdiction. 2. The FKAA has always included this area in all its initial funding discussions with the County and the County's Intergovernmental Task Force reference federal funding. 3. Additional status information on the was provided at the July 12th joint workshop. 4. As part of the FEMA unmet needs planning for the Baypoint/Saddlebunch Wastewater initiative FKAA has incorporated the feasibility review of a phased Rockland Regional system to service Baypoint, Geiger Key, Big Coppitt and Rockland Key. (February 2002-deadline). Subsequent Information: 1. October lih, receipt of executed agreement (#LP0203) with FDEP in the amount of $1 00,000 to provide financial assistance to furnish labor, materials, and equipment to plan and design wastewater facilities and acquisition of the plant site (Greater Big Coppitt service area). 2. FK.AA has identified two potential plant sites on Rockland Key and have conducted initial geo-technical verification ofthese sites. Preliminary negotiations are being conducted concerning both sites for determination of acquisition. 3. Based on this subsequent information FKAA has initiated the development of updated finance modeling scenarios and capital costs estimates as to projected system development fees and monthly service fees. The update is expected to be complete by mid-November. Summary: 1. The FK.AA is continuing to internally develop a realistic comprehensive approach to wastewater compliance for the greater Big Coppitt area for review by the residents, County and the FKAA Board of Directors 2. The FK.AA staff is most willing to review any comprehensive proposal from Key West Resort Utilities that details the financing, permitting, capital costs inclusive of private connections and present such a proposal to the Board of Directors for consideration.
