Thank you for your help and support in allowing last year's Florida Keys Renaissance Faire to be
held at the Florida KeyslMarathon Airport property located at M.M. 52.5. This location offered
greater visability from US 1 and Convieniece of on site parking for the &ire patrons.
We would at this time like to request permission to use this site, or if necessary an alternate site
on the Florida KeyslMarathon Airport property for the 18th Annual Florida Keys Renaissance
Faire to be held in 2002. The dates for next year's Faire are Saturday, Sunday, and Monday,
January 19, 20, and 21, 2002. These dates are the three day national Martin Luther King Jr.
Holiday weekend. The Faire times of operation are from 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. on aR three
days. We would also request the set up dates again the weekend prior to the Faire starting on
January 6th and clean up dates to extend until the Friday and Saturday after the Faire, January
19th and 20th. This aRows us to use the work crew from the Big Pine Road Prison for both
setting up and breaking down the stages and cleaning up the site.
Florida Keys Renaissance Faire carries $1,000,000.00 of General Liability and Liquor Liability
Insurance for this event, in addition to rain insurance, which will cover operating expenses in the
case ofa rain out. The Faire operation includes ovemight on-site security officers, the use of the
community organization and Marathon High School clubs for parking, the use of Monroe County
Sheriffs Officers for highway traffic control and on-site daytime security, and coordination
Monroe County Public Works as wen as Marathon Garbage Service. Porta Potties and pump out
service for each day is contracted with AES and is paid for by our operating budget.
The Faire itself is the re-creation of a 16th Century EngHsh Village Market and consist of Arts &
Crafts Booths, Food Booths, a Beer & W'me Booth operated by a conmnmity service
organization. Jousting on Horseback in a secured roped off area 200 feet long by 40 feet wide
(the actual horseback riding takes place in a 12 foot wide area), a living chessgPme, entertainment
stages and large free standing tents for shade. The tents are erected by a professional tent
company from Miami
