Barnett, Director Project Management Department 1100 Simonton Street Key West, Florida 33040 Tel: 305-292-4416 Re: Marathon Courthouse Dear Mr. Barnett, On 09 April 2013 Pedro Falcon Electrical Contractors, Inc. requested a final inspection at the above referenced project from the City of Marathon Building Department. During the inspection we were advised by the building department inspector that five (5) additional exit signs would be required in order for the City of Marathon to approve the final inspection. According to the inspector, exit signs will be required at Doors 119A, 119B, 124, 128 and 1308. The Contract Documents do not indicate exit signs at these locations. Subsequently we contacted the Architect and Monroe County Inspector Mike Nalepa to discuss the requirement from the City of Marathon Building Department for the additional signage. It is our understanding that both of these parties are not in agreement with the City of Marathon's assessment for this requirement but that it is likely futile to protest the requirement as the City of Marathon is the Authority Having Jurisdiction. We were instructed to provide a cost proposal to install these additional signs. In order to move the project forward and obtain the final inspection and subsequent Certificate of occupancy PFEC proposes the following. Industrial - Commercial • Institutional • Utility Established 1985 PFEC will install (5) exit lights from our warehouse stock (exit lights do not match the building standard and are being provided at no cost for the lights themselves only) and replace these lights with building standard exit lights at a later date (lead times are associated with the building standard exit lights). This work will be performed on a Time and Material Basis Not to Exceed Three Thousand Dollars ($3,000.00). This work shall proceed immediately so as to minimize the delay to obtaining the Certificate of Occupancy. The Owner will then make a determination as to whether the Owner wants PFEC to procure and replace the exit signs with building standard exit signs. The Owner will advise PFEC on how to proceed. Respectfully Submitted.
