RETIREMENT PLAQUE
MARY ALEXANDER
Mary Alexander has given over thirty years of her life to public service,
working at the Monroe County Library in Key West. She has been a valued
member of the Library Technical Services team for her entire term of
service, one of the longest in the County.
In that time, many changes have occurred in the Library system-it has
grown to five branches and computer technology has replaced much of the
paperwork that was originally a major part of Mary's job, but Mary's skills
grew with each challenge. Mary has worked under six library directors, and
has a collection of stories from every era.
Her cheerfulness, good humor, and kind nature have endeared Mary to
staff throughout the Library system but especially to those with whom she
has worked most closely. Her dedication and hard work earned her the
award as "Employee of the Month" a few years ago, and her standards
have never wavered. Mary has never given less than her best.
Mary Alexander's last day of work for Monroe County was August 3, 2001,
and daily we miss her warmth and her work. We give her our sincere
thanks for all those years, and wish her the best in the years to come.
