Item Background: This purchase is proposed to protect property rights and natural resources. The subject property consists of a quarter-acre of filled land at the corner of US 1 and Ocean Boulevard in Tavernier. It is within the CARL Florida Key Ecosystem project and the Tavernier Greenspace project. The property is zoned Improved Subdivision (IS) and designated Residential Medium (RM) on the Future Land Use Map. Due to its small size and proximity to wetlands, the property is un buildable without a variance from wetland setback requirements. Fundilf1g for this purchase will come from the State's Preservation 2000 program, which will restrict future use of the property to conservation and public recreation. The Land Authority's standard purchase contract will be used. The agenda packet spreadsheet lists the legal description, purchase price, and closing costs for this transaction. Advisory Committee Action: On September 27,2001 the Advisory Committee voted 5/0 to approve this purchase. Previous Governing Board Action: On October 19, 2000 the Board approved adding this site to the Acquisition List as part of the Tavernier Greenspace project.
