ITEM BACKGROUND: During 2001 Rudy Krause had a minor conditional use application reviewed for a 6,000 square foot commercial building on US #1 on Ramrod Key - RE# 00114150.000302. The fee for the review was $3,025.00. Under NROGO the maximum allocation award is 2,500 square feet. The only proposed change on the plans is the reduction in the size of the building to 2,500 square feet. Marlene Conaway, Director ~ {$t/ Department of Planning and Environmental Resources FROM: RE: Adjustment of Conditional Use Review Fees Rudy Krause, Commercial Building RE# 00114150.000302 Background The Planning Department reviewed and denied a Minor Conditional Use application for Rudy Krause on March 30, 2001. The request was for a 5,959 square foot building on Ramrod Key. The denial was based on trips that would be drawn to the property from Big Pine Key, which violates Policy 301.2.2. Other aspects of the project were in conformance with the LDRs. The fee for review of the miner conditional use was $3,025. Proposal Mr. Krause is proposing to reduce the size of the building to 2,500 square feet, the maximum amount of square footage that may be awarded under NROGO. All other aspects of the project will remain the same, including parking, landscaping, setbacks, etc. Review time for the amended conditional use application will be significantly reduced, although a review of the traffic will be required considering the reduced size of the building. A fee of $500 should be sufficient to cover the cost to the County to review this amended application. Recommendation Staff recommends approval of the adjustment to the miner conditional use amendment review fee to $500.00. Since the plans were submitted and gone through the process, reviewed and were accepted with 6,000 sq. ft. proposed commercial building, I have agreed to decrease the size of the building to 2,500 sq. ft. with no other changes to plans.
