ITEM BACKGROUND:
Judge Paul E. Esquinaldo, Sr. began his judicial career in 1956. He was Monroe County Court Judge
from 1972 to 1986. He served on the Judicial Qualifications Committee of Florida and he was active
In the Boy Scouts of America, the Navy League, the Salvation Army and the American Legion. He was a
member of the Jaycees, Elks Lodge No, 551 and the Lions Club.

RESOLUTION NO. -2002
A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
OF MONROE COUNTY IN RECOGNITION OF THE LATE
HONORABLE PAUL E. ESQUINALDO, SR.
WHEREAS, on January 20, 2002 the Sixteenth Judicial Circuit was saddened by
the loss of a loyal friend and colleague, the HONORABLE PAUL E. ESQUINALDO, SR.;
and
WHEREAS, JUDGE PAUL E. ESQUINALDO, SR. began his judicial career in
1956 as a judge for the Small Claims Court of Monroe County; and
WHEREAS, JUDGE PAUL E. ESQUINALDO, SR. served as a County Court
Judge for Monroe County from 1972 until 1986; and
WHEREAS, JUDGE PAUL E. ESQUINALDO, SR. honorably served the
Sixteenth Judicial Circuit for many years until his retirement in December, 1986; and
WHEREAS, JUDGE PAUL E. ESQUINALDO, SR. also served on the Judicial
Qualifications Committee of Florida for numerous years; and
WHEREAS, JUDGE PAUL E. ESQUINALDO, SR. served his community by
being active in the Boy Scouts of America, the Navy League, the Salvation Army and
the American Legion; and
WHEREAS, JUDGE PAUL E. ESQUINALDO, SR. was a member of the
Jaycees, the Elks Lodge No. 551 and the Lions Club; and
WHEREAS, his zest for life, the love of his family and his devotion to his work
was truly an inspiration to everyone who knew him.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF
MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA that:
Section 1: The Board adopts this Resolution as an assertion of their sincere
heartfelt gratitude to a distinguished, devoted and well-loved colleague for his
years of outstanding service to the judicial system and his true love and concern
of his fellow man; and
Section 2: The Board adopts this Resolution as an expression to the family of
their regret and deepest sympathy in the passing of the late JUDGE PAUL E.
ESQUINALDO, SR.; and
Section 3: The Board adopts this Resolution as a permanent record of the
esteem, respect and honor in which JUDGE PAUL E. ESQUINALDO, SR. was held by
his fellow jurists, colleagues, co-workers, citizens and friends,

PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of County Commissioners of Monroe
County at a regular meeting of said Board held on the day of February,
