Brief 811mmary as to YOllr quaJifications to serve on thiB committee:
As a captain, I havc dedicated my professional career to educating the public
about our Florida Keys ecology. J have had thc wonderful opportunity to share with the
tourist my understanding of the value of our natural SU1TOundings. On a very small level
1 am helping to influence out tourist community to be ecologically intelligcnt,
My broad base of knowledge in the "eco-tourism" sector will be of value to the
Tourist Development Council as it continues to address and attract the ecologically
conscientious tourist,
Also, I currently do not sit on any other board. This is a major asset to the
advisory committee as J will. be able to dedicate my full attention to this position.
The m~or commitment in my life is to expand my small business. To do so requires
effort on my part to create a healthy Florida Keys environment and participate in helping
to build a strong and conscientious tourist community. I look forward to this opponunity
with the Tourist Development Council.

Emolovment Historv: My family and I moved here in 1986 from Texas where I was in upper
management in the fledgling computer industry, I have been a dive instructor and a
charter captain for 16 years owning my on dive shop at one time. I started and ran a historical
tour here in the upper keys attempting to keep people here when the weather was bad. The
venture was underfunded and closed after a year. I have been in banking for 3 years now.
OraanizationlMembershio Affillatlonts): I have been a member of both chambers for many years.
I am president-elect of the Key Largo Rotary, My wife, Suzan, and I were on the court of the
Black and White Ball for the Childrens Shelter and I am currently on the committee for the ball.
Brief summarv as to your aualiflcations to serve on this committee: As many people in this
community can testify, my interests have always been in promoting the upper keys area. I
have put together programs for training people in retail sales, phone sales, etc. to try to put
a better foot forward and keep "heads in beds". I am also currently enrolled in Class X of
Leadershi~ County.
