A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
OF MONROE COUNTY IN RECOGNITION OF THE LATE
CHARLES RUSSELL
WHEREAS, on March 1, 2002 the Florida Keys Electric Co-op was saddened by
the loss of their General Manager and CEO; and
WHEREAS, the citizens of Monroe County lost a loyal friend and colleague; and
WHEREAS, CHARLES RUSSELL began his career with FKEC over 40 years
ago as a boiler wiper, cleaning oil off the boilers; and
WHEREAS, CHARLES RUSSELL served as the Chairman of the Upper Keys
Advisory Board for First State Bank, Chairman of the Board of the Key Largo Chamber
of Commerce, a member of the Rotary and was instrumental in organizing the Rotary's
Nautical Flea Market; and
WHEREAS, CHARLES RUSSELL honorably served his country, the co-op, his
community and most importantly, he served his family; and
WHEREAS, CHARLES RUSSELL served as an infantry sergeant in Vietnam and
was awarded the Bronze Star; and
WHEREAS, CHARLES RUSSELL, the native Marathon Conch returned to his
community after serving in the military; and
WHEREAS, CHARLES RUSSELL was a cornerstone to the community and was
involved with charitable clubs; and
WHEREAS, his zest for life, the love of his family and his devotion to his work
was truly an inspiration to everyone who knew him,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF
MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA that:
Section 1: The Board adopts this Resolution as an assertion of their sincere
heartfelt gratitude to a distinguished, devoted and well-loved colleague for his
years of outstanding service to the citizens of Monroe County and his true love and
concern of his fellow man; and
Section 2: The Board adopts this Resolution as an expression to the family of
their regret and deepest sympathy in the passing of the late CHARLES RUSSELL; and
Section 3: The Board adopts this Resolution as a permanent record of the
esteem, respect and honor in which CHARLES RUSSELL was held by his colleagues,
co-workers, citizens and friends,
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of County Commissioners of Monroe
County at a regular meeting of said Board held on the day of March, 2002.
