RE:
MEDICAID NURSING HOME COST SHIFT - UPDATE
HB 1975 was not heard today on the House floor. FAC encourages all counties to continue
the personal phone calls and the e-mails.ltis unclear at this time when the bill will be
voted on, but we must keep the pressure on all House members to VOTE NO on HB
1975.
Information was distributed today on the House floor that states: "Bottom Line: Counties
must prioritize their budget issues just as the Legislature and Florida's families have
prioritized since Sept. 11 th." County commissioners need to reinforce the message that
"the state needs to prioritize its budget and fund state programs with state dollars _
not with local property taxes." Additionally, counties have prioritized their budgets since
Sept. 11 th to ensure local communities are safe and secure. The Florida Legislature
should not compromise the first line of defense - our county governments!
KEEP THE PRESSURE ON!
