AGENDA ITEM WORDING: Issuance of Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity to
Monroe County Emergency Medical Services for the operation of an ALS transport ambulance service.
ITEM BACKGROUND: Pursuant to the requirement of Chapter 6.5 Monroe County Code, an
application for the issuance of a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity has been received
from Monroe County EMS to operate an ALS transport service in the geographical area from the west
end of Cow Key Channel, to the west end of Seven Mile Bridge; from Banana Boulevard Valhalla
Beach to the west end of Channel 2 Bridge and the City of Layton; and from the west end of Tavemier
Creek Bridge to South Bay Harbor Drive & Lobster Lane, effective April 01, 2002.
PREVIOUS REVELANT BOCC ACTION: Chapter 6.5 Monroe County Code allows the issuance
of Certificates of Public Convenience and Necessity, by the Board of County Commissioners, to
providers of essential emergency medical services who comply with the requirements of said Code and
Chapter 401 Florida Statutes.
